Our second day in Spain!

Today we toured the Jewish quarter or Toledo. We learned that Toledo was the melting pot of all different cultures. The jews lived side by side with everyone and prospured there. We then made our way to the now transformed synogogues of El Transito and Santa Maria La Blanca. We also saw the 2000 year old Cathedral, there we spoke about the history of Toledo and how Torquemada (priest of king and queen) planned to execute and expel the Jews. Afterwards, we all had lunch and had free time to go shopping and tour on our own. After a long day we headed back to the hotel for swimming and dinner!

Our first day in Spain!

After our long 8 hour flight, we finally landed in Madrid! We had a leisurely breakfast at Plaza Laza Espana where we saw a tribute statue of Miguel De Cervantes, who was a famous Spanish playwright. After breakfast we took a tour of the Spanish market and made our way to the Royal Palace. We toured the Royal Palace and learned that they still use it when famous politicians come. We learned that this was the palace where king Ferdinand and Queen Isabella passed the edict to expel the Jews from Spain. In that very courtyard everyone on ICE danced to Am Yisrael Chai! It was our way of showing that we are still here and counteract the kind and queens decree. we then visited the Prada museum, which is one of the most famous museums in the world. We saw beautiful paintings from prominent artists such as El Greco and Velazquez. After a long day of touring we made our way to the hotel in Toledo, where we had an ice breaker to get to know everyone.
