Dear NCSY Euro Ice Parents,
All good things must come to an end, and sadly enough our trip is almost over. After a wonderful second week in Israel, we packed up and headed to the airport.
Wednesday was full of learning and emotion. The day consisted of a tour of Yad Vashem, the Israeli Holocaust Museum, a tour of Har Hertzl, the IDF cemetery, and a tour of the Knesset. We ended off the night with a relaxing trip to Cinema City where we watched the new Tarzan movie.
Thursday the kids went surfing and lesrned Krav Magah on the beach. We next headed to the Bedouin tents where we rode Camels and slept in tents.
Early Friday morning the group hiked Massada and learned about the amazing history atop the mountain. After a beautiful sunrise hike, we headed to the Dead Sea to cool off.
Shabbos came in with a bang, praying at the Kotel for Friday night services and then heading to the OU Center in Jerusalem for a enthusiastic, song filled dinner. Shabbos in Jerusalem was beautiful, full of singing, dancing and words of Torah. After shabbos ended the kids were given free time in the Mamilla mall.
Sunday we began the day doing good deeds, packig boxes of food at a food pantry. The day continued with stops at the Shuk, Meah Shearim, and the Old City. The kids were given a tour of the Kotel Tunnels. They lesrned about the history of the first and second and temples and saw water cisterns from the time of the temples. The night ended off with a closing event at the Kotel, where we reminisced over the amazing summer we all experienced together.
All the summer may almost be over, as the kids know, we as a program are one big Ohana. We can not wait to continue spending time with all of the ICErs for only good things, for many more years to come.
All the best,
Rabbi Lashak
